Poor quality of Toyota genuine rubber car mats

Decided to have my car delivered with the Toyota genuine rubber mats, instead of the carpet mats.
My main motivation for that was expected lifetime.
When cleaning the car today, I noticed a hole in the driver side mat (car less than 6 Months old).
This is a manual and I do most driving with hard-heeled shoes, but thought this was quite disappointing.
I will be asking my dealership for a replacement and expect they will honour that, but that won't prevent this from happening again. Happy to order the sandgrabba mats, but won't I have the same problem with these?

My sandgrabba mats where more than 4 years old when I sold the vehicle with them..
Still looked as good as the first day they where installed..

If only I had found Pradopoint and thus the sandgrabba mats prior to ordering the Toyota rubber mats.
They are still going however showing some wear under the drivers pedals.

It seems the toyota items are quite poor quality, I have the boot liner and its showing wear but the Toyota seat covers have fallen apart for the second time now.

This is interesting to hear. My mats and boot liner are just over a year old now and look almost as good as the day i got them. They're actually one of my favourite/most useful accessories. I do have an auto, so it obviously won't have the same wear issues as a manual. My wife tears through mats in her car because she's always wearing high heals and it digs a hole between the accelerator and the brake pedals. I don't wear the heels (much), so no probs in my car.

My toyota mats are now approaching 5.5 years old and are fine. I do however also have the toyota carpet mats underneath them which possibly helps with the reduction in wear..

Yep, wore through the toyota ones in my 120 in 2 and a bit years. i think becouse i always have a bit of sand from the last trip on the mats and their soft compound my heel grinds through them. Found a nice fitting set at REPCO made of a tougher compound this time. Was cheaper too.

yes, you are right i also used it and it has very poor quality.its a big mistake of using toyota car mats.

I have a similar problem. It started to wear, so I put a cheap car mat from my old car on top to stop the wear.

The only issue is that Toyota throw it in the back every time I have a service.

I had the same issue. Toyota throws it in the back saying that mat should be tightly secured and no loose mat should be in the driver's side (reason being, that due to the recent litigations relating to Toyota/Lexus accelerator pedal getting stuck). They even put a tag attached to my rear view mirror in my vehicle stating the same.

Perhaps they should make the originals a bit tougher then?

Thanks all for your feedback. Visited the dealership today who ordered in a replacement no worries. Interestingly, when keying in the PN of the mat in my car, it came up as an automatic version. The dealer ordered the mat for the manual instead. Wonder if this is any different (better).

I realise this is an old thread but was thinking of getting these and now I'm not so sure. Does anyone have any recent feedback to share?

I have the carpet ones but don't think they are suited to off-road driving so looking for something that is. I know about Sandgrabbas but have heard good and bad about them too.

There is a cheaper alternative to the Sandgrabbas on eBay.
