    Chriso57 and CookieSA,

Are getting the inserts that sit under the headlights painted? Saw a white one with a black T13 and black inserts, didnt like the inserts unpainted but the bar looked good.

Boomer, I'll stack my 2011 Prado against your FJ55 any day of the week, on any choice of track. Not only will I make it further, I'll be dry, cool and dust free! As Kakadaz said, this is a Prado forum where a bloke has too keep the missus happy and the rug rats safe, (As humanly possible!) while still hitting some fairly serious tracks.
By the way, I think an old 40 series with after market paint and colour coded barwork looks just as good as a new fourby. And if I do want to slum it, I take out the 92 Vitara I teach my kids to drive in for a spin.

    Thanks for your view though.

    Cheers,
    Dusty

Nowadays, the majority of 4wds are treated as showpieces and we read comments like "can't wait to see your new rig". I think there are a lot of girls driving 4wds nowadays!!! "Oh I just love your bar and it matches the paintwork so well. I wouldn't be seen dead with a bar that didn't match my car!!!!" Real girlie stuff!!! Where have all the men who used to go bush and who knew how to drive 4wds. No downhill assist. No power steering. No automatic gearboxes. Manual locking hubs. Ah those were the days when men were men who didn't fuss over how good a mates car looked and whether he had a 50mm lift!! LOL
I agree to a point...a lot of "pretty cars" on here do go off road regularly and travel the same hard outback tracks that the previous 100 years of 4x4er's did. Yes my car does have a number of electronic gadgets that help it off road but that's just evolution....if cars didn't evolve I'd be pi$$ed off having to live with a 60 series cruiser day in day out. Bare in mind it is a Prado Forum not "the minimum of 6" lifted 37" muddie patrol forum" , we do go off road but also want a refined everyday family car with a safety rating worthy of my family BUT if need be I can go places off road with total confidence my Prado will get me there and back.

Hi All this is my very first post. I’ve been lurking in the background for some time appreciation the many views and great information that you have all shared and debated. Its been great, and perhaps its time I joined the bunch and add some input.
I purchase one of the first off the rank 2010 series 150 GXL D4D silver in December 2009 and now about to have my 90K service. The only upgrade I have done is the BFG 265/70/17 which made a great change. It’s now time to start the build and get into the bush more. I just ordered and will install a TJM T13 Black Bullbar, Tigerz11 12000LB Synthetic rope winch and Wynnum Towbar. More to come. I will add some picks perhaps when in process and installed.
This is a great forum and I look forward to be a part of it. Cheers

DGW, I live in Pradotown where every silver Prado has a silver bar, I have only spotted 1 with a black bar up here and it is growing on me. With the black roof rack, black airtec snorkel and black tint I think it will look the goods.
    Cheers

Can some people with ARB bars please look at their mounting plate that bolts along the chassis (to the same locations as the outback ideas points.

I'm wondering whether their mounting plates sit flush up against the chassis? Or if there is a gap with bolt thread showing?

It seems what ever bar is chosen the real choice is who to fit it. Some of the photos show a big difference in gap around the wings of the bar. Thankfully my ARB winch bar has been fitted well with barely a finger gap that's consistent both sides.
Thanks goes to my local ARB.
