  • Gday Mike,

Yeah mate she's noisy unloaded @ 100km/h and above, definately noisy with a coupla swags and gear but serves it's purpose well. also as was expected little bit more fuelly per 100... just working on getting some photo's.

    • We just came back from our outback desert trip and the bolt on tradesman rack onto the Rhino H/D Roofbars worked a treat. Had a MSA RoofBag fully loaded and could not hear any noises at all, even though the sound proofing in the Prados are pretty good anyhow..... Avg fuel consumption for the 5800kms was 12.8ltrs/100kms

      • I've got a 150 with OME and 265/70/17's and have Rhino aero bars on. I put a roof basket on for the long trips , the Prado without the basket on measures 2050mm and fits in the standard garage fine.

I have the pioneer platform that attatches to the factory rails, you can easily remove it from the two cross bars if you wish. See the thread here http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-Factory-Rails

I'm thinking about adding the side rails and a fox wing to mine... Hmm something else to save for...

The Beauty about it Simon is you can bolt on and off accessories as you need, such as sides full rail, front, shovel holder, fuel cans or a fox wing. I can currently fit into most car parks, except if I have stuff on top!

            Cheers

            • I don't think the Whispbars and Rhino parts would be compatible.

              • I use the Thule WingBar or factory rails. They suit what I use them for and can carry up to 100kg - I belive this actually exceeds the weight limits of the factory rails.

very quiet without adding to much extra hight.

Can anyone with a Tracklander verify this?
2.08m at the highest point, but my suspension has sagged a little and i have a bar on the front.

Did you buy the aero bars or have them already. What I am wondering is the Rhino website sells the feet for mounting. Does that mean you don't have to buy the full roof rack set? That would be handy as I could then keep the Whispbars.

I am going to try to get to Autobarn after work to have a closer look either way.

                    Thanks again Josh.
Sorry I hadn't got back to you Bendman, I bought the platform as a kit with the bars and roof rail clamps, was an awesome deal t the 4x4show. I've been very happy with it, minimal noise and a low profile. How are you going with the decision making?

                    • Hi guys.
Just a quick question. Can you take the roof rails off a GXL and fit 3 heavy rhino racks? I know they are listed for the GX but unsure whether the mounting poinys are different on the GXL.

                      Cheers

I am in the same position, looking for a way to fit a roofrack for occasional use. This post by rob looks as though the rack bolts onto the little mounts that are fitted when the NS roofrails are removed. A la GX.

Does anyone have any info? The ARB web page is no use. Are we sure this is a 150 and not a 200? The spacing on the supports looks even.

I am happy to customise to suit. I suspect my poor long suffering Jaram rack will finally get a holiday. Other than that I am thinking of the whispbars with a custom connection to a Pioneer or Alloy tray (or equivalent).

This system would be ideal for me, remove the plastic covers, drop the rack in place and bolt into the clips.

EDIT: Answered my own question by going to the ARB website. Definately 200 series for the 2200 long alloy and steel rack. I have asked ARB for the fitting instructions to see if it fits as I think it does. Next step a bit of a measure....

                            • Bendman, the black looks great, will look even better on the Graphite. I wish it was available when I bought mine, I presume it's anodised and hopefully won't scratch. Hopefully they've sorted out their rear cross brace. When my platform arrived the brace was in the wrong spot and interfered with the position of the roof bar. After talking to Rhino, they had just discovered the problem as well, so I drilled out the pop rivets and moved it to the correct spot. They were really apologetic and compensated me for the mix up. I did offer to accept a Foxwing to offset the fix, they weren't quite that keen unfortunately!

                              • Bendman, he did offer me the brackets from the platform to the foxwing, close but not quite. Here is a shot looking down on the platform from the back. If your whispbars are no longer than 1150 mm long you may be able to get away with it. When I got mine the platform and cross bars that attach to the rails were seperate. The instructions give you measurements of where to mount them to the factory rails, once the sxb legs and cross bars are fitted the platform sits over the top. It then bolts down into the cross rails, there are also plastic clips which look into the cross rails between each plank of the platform. You can see this in the photo.
