Hayman reese weight distribution hitch

I have just purchased a 150 Series GXL Manual Toyota Prado which is fitted with a Fattory Tow Bar.

I am now about to fit a Hayman Reese 76003 - 600lb/275kg Weight Distribution Hitch.

Before I go ahead and do so, can someone give me some advise on the following :-

a. Is the 'Ballmount Shank' compatible with the 'Hitch Receiver' in the Toyota Factory Fitted Tow Bar?

b . Will the 'Ballmount Shank' that comes standard in the HR Weight Distribution Hitch Kit be appropriate OR will I have to buy another 'Drop Shank'?

Firstly, I am only seeking your help, as I have spoke to the local HR Supplier and he couldn't even tell me the difference between models 76003 & 76003F. Secondly, I have found that they are around $100 cheaper on the internet and I don't want to buy the wrong one.

I have the same Hayman Reese WDH on a Toyota tow bar. I was told by the caravan manufacturer that I may have to grind a bit of metal off the tongue for it to fit into the hitch receiver, however, it fitted straight in from the packing box.

You will need a 3500 kg towball, the 2000 kg ball does not suit.

The young bloke from the caravan manufacturer helped me set the correct height for the pin (or bolt) adjustment, so it now tows flat with the Prado. You should not have to buy anything else. Once you have the correct height set, you can just remove then hitch and store it until next use.

I have now towed for several thousand kms, road and dirt, no problems so far.

You have mentioned that I will need a 3000kg towball, BUT, the Prado maximum tow weight is 2500kg. This is the size of the Factory Bar fitted by Toyota.

3500kg ball is a standard. It just means it is well and truly up to the job; no problems running it. You don't want to run a 2000kg ball as its not strong enough.

I run a HD haymen R system with my factory tow bar. No problems. Easy to adjust height I'd necessary. Tow balls can have a rated Capacity. Gay the 3500kg. I have a long tounge for the ball which enables me to see the ball with the rear camera when hitching up. It is worth checking it out so you can do this.

I just install this towbar hitch "Reese", they did a pretty good job...
