  • Do not break your door mirror....

So in an half asleep daze the other morning, I backed out from under the house and managed to clip one of the poles with my passenger side mirror. By clip, I mean crush, breaking both the black plastic surround and cracking the white outer cover.

The electronic controls all still work, but you can't just buy the plastic surrounds and mirror glass. The quote from Toyota parts this morning ?

$873 for the mirror assembly, and a further $130ish for the cover. EEEK!

So the lesson here is to be fully awake before trying to back out of a narrow spot and maybe retract the mirrors if you don't need 'em.

Put in an insurance claim. The excess would be less than half the total cost for the replacement mirrors.

Maybe an opportune time to replace with a set of Clearview mirrors.

I have them on my 120 series and they are brilliant.

Not sure if they fit the 150 series but have sent a message to Mike Cowan the owner of business to ask this questioin,
Will post reply when I hear from him.

          Oh what a feeling

Did you tell them you only wanted the mirror, not the left and side of the car.

I broke TWO passenger side mirror mounts on my 120, exactly the same and had to buy the whole mirror, the insurance covered one as there was other damage but it was $600 for the GXL (chrome) and $350 for the GX. I suppose our 150's have indicators and power retract but $1000 for the mirror and cover is shocking.

Might also be an idea to check with the wreckers .
This one is on the Gold Coast site http://www.4x4part.com.au/cars-wrecker.asp?id=2706

Also this thread has some info http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...or-Replacement

Yes, power retract and adjustment seems to jack up the price somewhat, but all that works, I just want the plastic surrounds. grrr...

Thanks for the wrecker tips, will definitely be chasing those up and see what I can find.

Well, going to glue the plastic bits back together and have a replacement mirror coming from mirrors4cars.com (on the Gold Coast). That should do it for now methinks.

Hi - lost my mirror to an idiot in a campervan straying onto my side of the road and broke the cover, mirror and LED light. I went to Toyota and they sold them to me separately and I installed them myself. I had to have the plastic cover painted by the panel-beaters and all up it cost $560-00.

Is my passenger side mirror buggered?

The other day I used the power retract in a tight carpark (first time) I noticed the passenger side folds faster than the drivers side.

                      Normal? Do you know?

My passenger side mirror also retracts faster than my drivers side, don't think there's a problem.

It is because your passenger mirror is closer to the door panel than the driver's mirror, due to you sitting in the driver's seat. Measure the angle of both mirrors and you will see the difference.

                          Yowie.

Lost one to a camel & sold the car with no LH mirror. Gotta love the WA vehicle transfer rules.
