Kaymar rear bar ''what do you think"

I had kaymar fit a rear bar to the prado.I thought the hitch wasnt bent far enough but its actually the way the towbar has been welded on. Ive taken it back to Kaymar for them to look at it as I dont think its right. They suggested to fix the problem the hitch should be bent at more of an angle.

Definitely something funny going on, the hitch should be parallel to the ground?

I had a Kaymar on my 120 Series and it was parrallel to the ground. That def. doesnt look right. My concern would be that to bend it up, it would have to be heated up, which in turn would weaken the steel?? Looks to me its been made wrong in the first place.

Looking at it on a big screen, the receiver has definitely been welded on incorrectly.

For the $2500 you spent on it, I'd be personally taking it back to them and asking for a new one.

Agreed D4D, a new one would be on my list of requests. I guess it depends on the waiting time for a new one also, as I know there a fair wait time. I would also be asking for some form of compensation as a result of the inconvenience.

heating it up will not weaken it if it left to cool normally, but buy looking at that its definately a fabrication problem, but i know its a dumb question but is your tregg hitch gooseneck bent?

Regardless of who it was i would definately demand a new bar !

I have tried 3 different hitch's and they are all the same.When I put the tregg on it even looks worse because of the length of it I think.

yep give em a call and say fix it properly, especially when you have outlaid some good coin to buy a Quality product. this might have been a friday arvo job, unfortunatley for you. cheers samo

The hitch reciever is part of the bar ? So its the reciever thats been welded at the wrong angle.

Its not a good reflection on Kaymar that they have fitted it themselves and are palming you off with a bent hitch story. Get a length of 50mm box section and stuff it in there and let them tell you it needs bent

$2500 is for the bare bar only, twin tyre carriers pop the invoice up to $4000.
