  • Front Camera and Radar Cruise with an ARB Bar

Hi All - New to the forum and a new Prado owner. I've got a 2012 ZR and am currently looking at the ARB Sahara and Deluxe Bars. From what I've been told the Radar Cruise is not effected by either Bar but the you do loose some visibility from the from front camera.

I'm sure there are a number of guys out there with this equipment combination, can anyone confirm that the Radar Cruise is not impacted and give an indication of the impact on camera visibility?

I have a 2012 Kakadu. I have a ARB Sahara Bar installed with Lightforce HID spots.
All you can see with the front camera is the back of the spotties and the Bar. I will be relocating my camera to the front of my bar soon.
The Radar cruise control is not affected at all. The radar is located up near your rear view mirror.
By the way after thinking the Radar cruise was a big wank I now think its the only way to go. No more turning your cruise on and off when you approach cars going slow. It is sweet. Good luck with the new car.

Have a 2010 with radar cruise, camera and ARB deluxe bull bars with IPF lights. The camera has to be moved forward lest you get a great view of the back of the lights and metal of the bar--far as I can tell no one has figured this one out. The radar cruise still works (it seems to be emitted and read through the Toyota badge on the grille) though with the lights it will lose a car around the bend then when it finds it again suddenly decellerate depending upon how its set. I have had the most problem with the parking sensors--I beleive this is an option with the Sahara variant. Since they are moved outward they seem not to know they have moved so you can get dangerously close before they warn you. If you rely on them up front, or for that matter the camera, learn otherwise before you instal?!

I can't recall exactly what the tread was called, but someone on here has had the camera moved to the front of the bar and mounted on a custom bracket, apparently it works well. I CBF'ed searching, but the thread's here somewhere...

Edit: My good deed for the day, check pic 3.

Hi i moved the camer fron the grill to the middle of the ARB Delux bar. un did the grill top cover (plastic clips x 12 i think) undid the camera from back of grill 3 star screwws(leaving the bracket on the back of camera modlue), extended the 4 wires on the main loom. That way if camera needs replacing you just plug and play. drill a 32mm hole in middle of top of bar,(the hole will need to be elongated a bit as camera is not in a cylindercal(spelling not quite right)).
Up behing the top part of the bar their is an area which the camera will fit in to. this area is above where the winch fits but below the top od the bar, When you drill the hole you will see the area i am discussing.
What you have to do is with the camera is to use the winch hole to the side and bend your hand up behind the bar. it sounds tricky but its fairly easy once you feel where the camera will fit, once in their Use 2 60mm m5 bolts (bolt heads to the read) and 4 nuts to push up and hold in behing the top of the bar) bolt with a nut on - then camera bracket then - nut leave loose to allow a bit of movement, once camera is in the hole you can adjust with a file on the hole. use the bolts and nuts to hold in place.
Once operational you will see just the outer edges of the Bar rubber protectors.
I did this over 12 months ago and all works well. Its is a bit fiddly but well worth it. All the distance ranges still work.

            Bullbar

            Hi everyone,
I am a first time visitor with a 2012 Kakadu. I have been making enquiries about fitting a bulbar to my vehicle.
I have been getting mixed responses. It seems that the ARB Sahara or Deluxe are the best options however I have been told that no matter what bar I fit it may interfere with the radar cruise control and the pre collision safety system. Have been advised that if I fit spotlights and or winch these will definitely interfere with the sensors.
Has anyone had any trouble with this???
            Thanks

Welcome to the forum VJW! There was a thread on this subject a while back and IIRC the answer was there was no interference with the sensors. I have a TJM T13 bar on my Kakadu but don't have radar cruise so can't comment from direct experience, think I might know someone who does though and will check for you.

                VJW,

Welcome to the forum. May I suggest you use Google advance search to find your answers. I did using these keywords radar cruise control and got the following

                http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...cruise-control

                http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...ith-an-ARB-Bar

Also next time consider a title like bullbar and radar cruise control
                enjoy

                Winston.

Thanks stevejau, that has eased my mind. Was starting to think that a bullbar was out of the question.

Just makes it easier for others to search for the information. What bullbar have you decided on? The clearance/indicator lights are a bit cheap on the ARB bar. There is however a member on here that makes bash plates that would complement you setup. Here is the link:

I have a set and they are very well made and designed.

On another note. Do you plan on installing an antenna on the bar? If it has the holes on the sides next to the head light it might be easier to put the antenna on first before the bar gets bolted on. Same for a winch.
