Anyone know why you can't put rock sliders on a KDSS Prado? or if any manufactures are working around the problem? Or if any manufacturers do them yet?
Cheers
Daz

I don't think any manufacturers make 'rock sliders' for the prado. They're all just steel steps which are attached the chassis, which is obviously better but still.
As for KDSS, isn't there some clearance issues with equipment mounted on the chassis?

I don't have any of the fancy stuff on my old girl. There is 10(?) captive nuts in the chassi on each side, this where the TJM steps bolt too (well, 8 of them).
I'm wondering if the hydraulic Lines are in the way. TJM had no idea why they didn't fit just that it wasn't listed in their book.

have a look through these pictures and see if you can work anything out... there is a 'cutout' on the rear mount to accomodate the handbrake? but like you said, there may be other lines around or pumps or something in the way.
The TJM sidesteps aren't suitable for the VX or Kakadu as the hydraulic lines run down the chassis where the side steps mount to.
Thank you Sir

I've been following ARB's development of 150 rock sliders and a few months ago they (ARB Osborne Park) said that they had a part number assigned but they were still in prototype stage. When I dug for more info, theye told me that they were expecting the 150 sliders to be a true single large diameter tube slider rather than the more common twin rail with step.
I busted my factory steps and am eagerly awaiting something to replace them. Side protection steps would suit me best.
Come on ARB!

Just a single slider/rail would be the most ridiculous thing they've ever done, It's a touring vehicle, not a comp truck.
Hey Kaka,
have you had any joy with this one yet?
I'm starting to think about using some protection... you can't be too careful these days...
Can't be done unless Kdss components and line are all moved....Doh

That sounds like its been put in the too hard basket by certain manufacturers.
That sucks! It can't be that hard to design something around the hyd lines surely.

It looks possible to do there just needs to be space under the mounting brackets to clear the lines but I guess like you said...too hard basket unfortunately.
If you feel like a drive the Sunday to try out your new goodies come to Perth this Sunday I'm heading out for a bit of a drive doing Pinjar power line track...not too hard the four hills we end up at are a bit of fun though if ya keen Adrian ?
