The Ergomed E with electric everything and side airbag like this:

    $3300 with base frame.

I kinda prefer this one, the Sportster CS, but both of these seats have high bolsters which will make getting in and out of the Prado more of a mission, and will also cop a lot of wear on top of the bolster.

So, maybe something like this would be a better compromise:

But doesn't come with an airbag. I've asked for more details...

We have a Kakadu and found the car felt cheap with the plastic leather seats. Still can't believe Toyota put Great Wall quality seats in a Kakadu. go figure. Anyway we straight away put Wild Ram sheepskin seat covers on them. They are not cheap but are high quality and airbag compatible.

The result is the crap standard leather is now hidden, the seats are more comfortable (they were reasonably comfortable std but are more so now), the sheepskin is warmer in cool weather and cooler and more comfortable in hot weather, the interior looks far more luxurious.

$6600 for a pair of Recaros Farkdat...I would say for $1500 ish a good auto trimmer could reshape and recover your existing fronts to your specs and keeps all the factory airbags etc...
2010 Kakadu with all the usual stuff.... Build up thread below

I agree and put on sheepies but have just taken them off again and am happy with the leather now its worn in a bit. I do agree though the quality of leather is poor and quite a bland seat.

Nice thought, but you can't turn a standard seat into a Recaro. I'll stick with standard unless something better comes along for a good price.

Heard back regarding the seat pricing.

The best match IMHO is the Cross Sportster CS:

              $2900 including baseframe and airbag.

Although they look awesome they may be more at home in a HSV rather than a Prado not sure how comfy they would be on long outback trips.. Still look sweet though.

                  You'd be surprised, then.

I've had a number of Recaro seats, the first cost me under $400 in about 1978, and I put over 500,000 km on it in several cars. I eventually sold that seat to a mate in Melb. and he still has it in his car.

The thing about seating comfort is to do with selection of foams and the quality of support of your frame and bodyweight. Recaro knows this stuff backwards. Any of these seats would be way more comfortable than the standard seats on an outback (or any other) trip. The only problem is the cost of admission.

True true, recaro have been doing this for a little while. Now can anyone spare me the lazy $5800 and I will be glad to test their comfort????

                    Anyone?

                    Anyone?
