  • Tag Towbar - What fits?

As part of the (dealership) deal when I bought my 150 Prado, they fitted a "TAG" towbar.

I'm needing a 4 bike rack, and went to roofracks galore in Kedron (Bris). We tried the Rhino 4 bike rack in the hitch, but it wouldn't fit! It went in about an inch and a half and stopped dead. Old mate says they have all sorts of troubles fitting anything into TAG branded towball receivers. He mentioned it is possible to grind down each section a fraction, but that obviously affects the strength of the unit.
Does anyone have a brand of bike rack that does fit into a TAG towball receiver? (And keeps bikes clear of the spare tyre)
    Cheers

I would expect that the receiver is still the basic box section to fit a 50mm hitch. Have a look and see if there is weld penetration reducing the inside size of the receiver. If the hitch goes in and then stops I am guessing either that or it is bent from welding distortion. If either of these are the case then I would be going back to the dealer. Measure the size of the TAG hitch and see if it is the standard size.
