150 genuine towbar harness connection

G'day all,

I just fitted my genuine towbar to my GXL this avo. Fairly straightforward job. When I hooked up my trailer and put the car in reverse the reverse parking sensors started beeping. I a fairly sure they shouldn't go off. I plugged the harness in to the plug in behind the LHS panel and the lights all work ok. The instructions say something about removing the RPA patch harness.

Anyone fitted their own genuine bar and can shed any light prior to me pulling all the paneling apart tomorrow.

I just turn mine off with the switch on the dash.

Yeah that's what I did but I thought the whole reason for the harness (with an ECU) was to avoid having to do that.

The 3 things I've towed, trailer, caravan and horse float have not deactivated the sensors.

Might be dependant on the wiring setup ??

I have a genuine bar and genuine harness and the sensors beep when the van or trailer are hitched up. Didn't see anything in either lot of instructions about them not beeping but will do the mod if there is one!

did mine last week, fitted Toyota wiring harness and hayman reese bar.

to disable the rear sensors etc, I always thought you need those trailer plugs with built in switches.

like this one, I fitted a 12 pin plug, but didn`t bother with the rev sensors as you can turn them off.

not sure which plug would be required. But something with those switches.

oh and in case you might not be aware, don`t hook up the black wire in the 7 pin plug. Its not normally used in Australia.
