    Electric Brake Controllers

    Has anyone fitted either a GLS or Red Arc remote brake controller, the one where the main unit is separate to the control knob and indicator light.
    I am curious as to how to get behind the dash panel to mount the control knob etc.

    Do yourself a favour and buya Tekonsha P3....

    Dash will comeoff easy, you just need to be careful the 1st time you pull it apart

      If you do a search you will find endless information on brake controllers, from how and where to install them, to how and why one is better then the other - all personal views of cause.

      For the record I have the one your interested in, works fine but I would recommend either a Tekonsha P2 or P3. Mainly because they apply the bakes progressively to match the situation, as apposed to you simply dialing in a constant value.

      Do a search and you will find far better explanations on the working of different controllers then my lame attempt above.

        I was considering a Redarc, mainly for the "neatness" factor, but after looking into it I came to the same conclussion as pinko351 and went for a P3. But if you search the forums there is a thread from one member who has done it with a redarc.

          P3 installed in the 150 this afternoon, it was the one previously installed in the 120......

          Only temp double sided taped it at present to check it doesn't get in the way. but if it doesn't then the screws will have to go in....

            Have P3 in the 120. Works faultlessly. I run a different setting on the hwy vs in town. I bump it up on the hwy.

              I have installed an original prodigy - like to P2 but with red LEDs bought new last week from caravan dealer - into my 150 series GX where the 6 buttons are on the RHS. I have had 2 of these controllers in previous 100 series and 120 series so am a creature of habit and had no faults. Location-wise I had to relocate the Idle Up and Headlight adjuster buttons to the top row so there were 3 blank in a row. Fiddly operation as some of the buttons have "ridges to prevent being put into wrong receiving place on the productionline. As with all installation explained elswhere here, its a personal preference where it suits the driver best. This RHS location suits me - I can see it and operate manual slide and my knee does not hit it getting in and out and it is no way near the knee airbag.
