Hi sweet pea.... Yep fitting requires removal of bumper bar and grill. Followed the instructions to the letter. Hardest part was disconnecting front sensors as I have the 2012 Altitude. You have to cut the black plastic grill with a square at each end for the bar connections to go through and connect to the chassis. I had a spare grill that the guy I bought the bar off had left over after fitting a bull bar so used that one and kept original intact. The fitting also requires that you you cut some plastic flaps under the radiator. The instructions come with templates that you have to use. It's important that you get the instructions with the cut outs from the dealer to get the correct size. I don't have the templates because I chucked them after I used them.

I recommend that you contact a dealer for the instructions so that you get the templates (at the right size and not distorted by copying/emailing). I was nervous about cutting/drilling anything on the Prado so I recommend you get an original.

I took everything that the guy had from removing the nudge bar. Good thing I did as it comes with special bolts and plate for fitting the number plate.

Hi sweet pea... By the way, if you have a secondhand bar and want to make it look like new, try the following like I did.
Alusol polish brings the metal up nice and shiny.
Peanut paste does the same on the black plastic.. No kidding

I was looking for a second hand nudge bar to mount the multitap HF antenna onto.

I am looking for something I can put on and take off relatively easily and removing the front bumper doesn't fit my idea of relatively easy.

Thanks for your advice. You were the first to confirm that I actually needed to remove the bumper to fit the genuine bar.

The third party nudge bars that mount under the bumperbar are looking more suitable.

Got my 2nd hand nudge bar off gumtree for $80. Normal retail about $600 for the OEM nudge bar. Local dealer CMI Toyota at Cheltenham kindly printed off install for the nudge bar for me. Fitting instructions say 1 hour.. Took me 6 hours and with some panic. have Altitude with front sensors, no problem at all with operation.

I rang nearly 6 toyota dealers, got transfer through some 3 difference departments from each of the dealer, took me over 2 weeks and finally found one Dealer/Department that was willing to help.

Anyhow, i got a copy in PDF. Did they print it out in A4 format for you Pete?

And yes, the fella i spoke to said his Tech team take around 4hrs plus to fit them. I'll see if i can beat their time .

Hi Khoa, yeah they only gave me a printed A4 copy. I should've copied it before I used the template. I dont think I'm gonna take the nudge bar off because I don't need a bull bar for the amount of off roading I do. Really happy with the look of the 75mm tube. Follow the instructions to the letter & you will be fine. Pretty scary when you have the front end off though. If you are gonna put recovery points on, now is the time to do it with the front end off. I got the Offroad Acessories ones from TJM.

Hey teddy, if you have a 2015 facelift, it is a different nudge bar and fitting compared to the pre facelift models. You will need to get hold of the relevant instructions

Nudge Bar Installation Instructions

Bought my 2015 GXL new with nudge bar fitted. The instructions which came with the car are for Production Dates - August 2013 onward. So it looks to me like facelift made no difference.

I am confident the fitter used these instructions because page 12 is the air deflector template and it has been cut out of the page.
