  • Which roof rack - general purpose use?

What roof rack do people reccomend??

150 5 door gxl (rail bars). Just for a roof box (Thule) and other small things infrequently. Maybe a small kayak/canoe or kids bikes infrequently.

Is the ~$260 Toyota branded one decent? Should I look at a Thule one? (thule one is 270 for aero and 320 for the fancy ones)

And if I was to step up to a roof tray. What brand then. And how much??

    Thanks

I went for the Prorack Whispbar as my garage is quite low. This rack sits at about the same height as the roof rails. The Prado and the roof rack fits in with about 3cm to spare. So far have only used it for carrying the kayak.

The Toyota racks are rhino racks. I got mine brand new for about $200 of eBay. They're good.

I also use the Whisbar low profile roof racks... they look good too!

        Cheers,

I bough the Toyota ones, which are Rhino with a Toyota sticker put over the top of them. However Toyota matched the Rhino price and warrants them for the life of the warranty of the vehicle. They are awesome. I have an awning fitted to them and use it to put a roof basket on every so often.

I have the rhino sportz bars fitted th the factory rails, supported the roof rack loaded up and side awning on problems. I have only recently bought a roof rack to mount directly to the roof to give me more room under the carport so will be selling those off soon.

            Cheers Derek
