Anyone DIY ARB Bullbar on their prado?

Just wondering if anyone was game enough to install a bullbar onto their Prado? From what i understand it requires a bit of trimming to the front of guards?

I've installed a bullbar onto my Hilux but there was no cutting required, and curious as to how difficult the Prado bullbar install is?

I installed my ARB bar myself. It's fairly straight forward just follow the instructions. You'll just need some basic tools and a jigsaw to cut the bumper and a bit of mechanical aptitude. I have fitted ones to my old Hilux and my rodeo, there's more work in the Prado one, but still managed to do it in 4 hours or so. The instructions come with plenty of photos and a template for the bumper cut. Don't be afraid there's a lot of satisfaction in doing the mods yourself, so long as you have the ability. It also gives you a better appreciation of the vehicle and accessory construction and it'll be fitted to your own standard.

Don't make me force feed you some cement! Naaaah just kidding horses for courses, if you can then why not , have a go, but if you are not that way inclined give it to the experts! Everyone knows their limitations, some like to sit on the fence... The others fit smart bars....

Back on topic...

I DIY install my Sovereign bar. It had a winch cradle so it was pretty heavy. With the help of 1coolbanana and my dad's carport, we slung the bar up on the carport beams with ratchet straps. Then as I drove the Prado forwards, Marc would adjust the straps to get the correct height. Then bolting the bullbar to the chassis was easy.

I agree, have a go, I've fitted everything to my car, ARB Sahara bar, spotlights, tow bar, in dash GPS, compressor, dual batteries, suspension the whole lot.

It is a bit daunting making that first cut across a nice shiny bumper but it is worth it when your looking at the finished product.

Give it a crack, the instructions are very detailed.

I fitted the snorkel to my last car, the sound of that hole saw ripping into the quarter panel is a sound I will never forget. I don't think I will do it again. I have contacts in the industry now so I reckon if I decide to fit a snorkel l'll get someone to fit it. It's the one installation I wouldn't want to mess up.

Wise choice. That would be embarrassing.

Everything else is fair game and worth having a crack at. I even built a camper trailer from the ground up, but don't think I'll fit a snorkel, not to the Prado. Maybe a lesser car.

Should be easy for you, no welding on a snorkel unless you make the hole a bit too big. I did the full fit out of the 90 (12 years ago!) but the 120 was done by others, this time I am doing a bit of both since I am both fussy and time poor.

Years ago a mate bought some electric windows and doors from a wrecker to swap the manual windows out of his car. The original car had quarter glasses and these had to be removed with a cutting disc so the new windows would fit. He couldn't bear to do it so another mate and I did (we were doing 99.8956% of the work anyway). So we sent him inside the house and started work in the garage. The first 17 seconds were removing the quarter glass frames. Done. The next hour and a bit of cutting, grinding and bashing with hammers was just for nuisance value. Said mate was nearly crying when we finally opened the garage door. Not a lot left of the other doors by then. Oh and two broken windows as well.
