  • towing mirrors for 150 prado

    hello,
I have seen a number of towing mirrors, and I have used two that have come loose and vibrate.
Without paying the hefty price of $795. for a new electric mirror, has anyone come up with a reliable towing mirror
that won't scratch or vibrate, and is a realistic price?

    Regards,
    campin

I have just purchased these http://www.caravanpro.com.au/product...rors---milenco they are my first ever set of towing mirrors and have just used them for the first time and they worked well, came loose once but was probably my fault, they close with the mirrors as well when parked up, there is a slight vibration but not bad.

I have got those, have had them for 18month. Been on a number of long and short trips including South OZ and Sunshine Coast and would recommend them.
There is also a larger Grand Aero available, would like to try those. Mainly for the left side, but then I don`t really worry so much about that side.

I don`t find vibration an issue
stepped up the a 200 LC for towing,
but had a 2012 and 2010 150 Prado GXL auto diesel in Graphite with Bridgestone D697 A/T. Dobinson C59-300/325 and Bilsteins. Accessories : two baby seats. Sidewinder`s Dual Battery isolator and rear power outlet kit. Pirana Battery tray, Hayman Reese towbar with Toyota wiring kit and Brains`s guard.

The other option is to have a screen and a rear view camera on the back of the van/camper

I purchased Brunsgaard mirrors for my new Prado. On my first trip away I thought they were fabulous, beautifully engineered and crystal clear visibility with no vibration or noise. However on the return journey I had the left mirror fall off twice and bounce down the road at 100kmh. (the left mirror angles back more than right) The mirror assy remained intact other than scuffing of some parts and the loss of a rubber boot on the clamp after the second falloff. Upon contacting the distributor we have determined that my set up was different to the way he sets up the mirrors for his Prado, which he informed me has been twice around the block with no mirror dramas ever.
He sent me some photos of his setup and after making the adjustments to mine I have no hesitation in recomending them. The arms must be setup such that the clamp foot sits above the indicator section of our mirrors, not half on and half off as I had!
Awesome bit of kit and very robust.

Disco does the wind from other vehicle cause your mirrors to fold in when you have these on?

gday checkers, I wonder how these perform when on a hwy and a truck going the opposite direction do the car mirrors unhitch??
I had a set of ora rossa mirrors and this would always happen to me, where I would have to wind window down and puch car mirror forward so it would sit back in correct position. became very annoying!! so sold and now looking what mirror might be best?? toying with the brunsgaurd or a set of truck mirrors, just don't want to scratch my winow tint, etc??
                  appreciate your thoughts

Believe it is illegal to do that while driving in Victoria !

With my old van, I could see back a little bit, but not a long way.

Also had a set of Ora mirrors, that blew back passing large trucks. I added a strap from the mirror to the bull bar, stopped the problem but was fiddly to set up the mirrors. Now bought a set of Milenco mirrors, waiting for the new van to turn up so I can try them.

                        Hi,
I have just done a couple more trips using the Brunsgaard mirrors after making my setup adjustments and can confirm that, setup correctly, these mirrors DONT move at all. Trucks travelling in the opposite direction have no effect on them whatsoever.
I too didn't want my old truck mirrors scratching my windows or stuffing the window rubbers.
Plus with the Brunsgaards you can still fold the mirrors in when stopped.
                        I like em.
