  • UHF On-Glass Antenna on Windscreen

I'm wanting to fit a UHF, but don't have a bullbar to mount the antenna and am not keen on those brackets that protrude between the bonnet and front quarter panel. So I'm considering fitting an on glass antennas (http://www.rfiwireless.com.au/mobile...l#.U5d_sXaJktU). My question relates to whether the windscreen in the 150 Kakadu has a metallic tint which will inhibit performance? When picking up the new car the dealer told me to place my e-Tag close to the rear view mirror & rain sensor over the black dots, as that area was free from metallic tint and the tag would not work elsewhere. I did this and the tag works fine, but I'm wanting to confirm if this advice is technically correct, as the entire area of black dots is swept by the wipers meaning the only space suitable for the antenna is at the top left, where there is a subtle band of tint visible in the glass.

    Cheers,

    David.

I know nothing about the glass mount but you could consider a roof mount - off the rails, or the rack if you have one fitted.

Thanks Ian. I don't have a rack, and whilst I could mount a bracket on the roof rails I'm not sure how I would route the coax neatly. I've gone for the glass mount, so will see how it goes. Should get it fitted up in the next week or so.

      Cheers,

      David.
