  • Fridge in rear of 150 GXL (facelift)

    Hi all...
New to the forum so please be nice.

I am about to upgrade to a new 150 GXL and looking around at a number of options & costs for all things - the big question is TJM or ARB...

Anyway, the main question is this. I am moving out of a duel cab ute where I have had a 78l ARB fridge mounted in the back on a slide, so I have been quite spoilt at the ability to just have it there and available and I would like to have it available in the Prado too. However, I am not willing to sacrifice the third row of seats to install a draw or slide on a permeant basis.

So my question is - has anyone been able to work out a removal solution for this for the occasions when we want the third row - ideally I would love to be able to have the fridge on one side and still access one side of the third row.... anyone been down this road and willing to share?

    Thanks

    Chev

You may struggle with the depth of the fridge. Not sure exactly how long it is but my 50 l waeco doesn't have heaps of spare room around it.

Welcome, plenty to read around here!

The biggest ARB will fit, just. We have a 60L (and the 78L is just higher) and I have had both it and the NL in at the same time. No way it would fit behind the auxiliary battery like the NL so the fridge would need to sit side by side, not an issue if the battery is located elsewhere.

I just made up a floor that completely covers the 3rd row seats, starts about page 9 on my build thread - http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...0-Kakadu/page9. Note I have a 2009 Kakadu so the fixing points are different to the GXL unless they changed it for the facelift model.

The link AMTS posted is for a partial floor solution that SandRunner built which would be ideal if you want to retain access to one of the seats. I'm not sure how wide that ARB fridge is though so you need to make sure you'll have enough side clearance. FWIW I fit a 65L Waeco in the back of my 150, no issues with depth and still have room for the cargo barrier.
