  • HID driving lights for a TJM Bar

Looking at driving lights for a TJM T13 bar. Considering selling a kidney and getting the Lightforce XGT 240 HID 50w. Has anyone got a pair? Even better has anyone got or even seen a set mounted on the TJM bar?? Just wondering if they fit or look too big. The alternative is the Lightforce Genesis which is a bit smaller. Happy to look at other lights as well is there are any recommendations
    cheers in advance.....

Brenno if you want to see how the Britax X-Ray HIDs fit on a T3 bar (same lower shape to the T13) have a look through my build. Mine are the 60W 4300K (spread beam) version and the latest are 90W 6000K. Very happy. My son has the 90W spots on his P-ute and they are amazing.

Thanks mate, I'll check them out. I think TJM have a deal on those lights till the end of the month. Must admit I'm a bit of a fan of Lightforce so I hadnt even looked past them....yet. By the way, very impressive build thread!

Thanks for the compliment. The 150 started with the Britax lights as QH then we went to a lightbar and then HID kitted the Britax so it took a while. On the XGT lights, and I don't know if this is typical, Brains had them on his 150 and they were starting to be badly affected by UV. Paul is away at the moment but if you are set on the XGTs and can wait it would be worth talking to him.

I have seen a few lightforce lights that have been badly UV effected, but then again our headlights go the same way if not cared for, polished, etc. I've bought a set of genesis because I don't like the massive XGT look, that's just a personal thing though. A mate who uses his lights every day (night driving on country roads) used to have blitz240 on his old cruiser, when he bought the new one he got the X-ray vision 90w hid and they are awesome, and look speccy with the park light LEDs wired up.

Depends on type of driving you want them for mate? Sounds like you want to spend a bit, i'm not sure on their RRP though.

Over the past few years I've had 2 x sets of lightforce (XGT and Blitz) halogen and HID, IPF900XS (halogen 100w) and now ARB LED intensity spots. Personally I found the lightforce lights disappointing and too much of shakey pointless pencil beam. The next best were the IPF's funny enough... then the ARB intensity's are a great all rounder (in the spot version) if you can spare the $ they're impressive.

I've got my old set of IPF 900XS from the 95 series converted from Halogen to HID using an eBay globe and ballast kit mounted on a TJM T13 bar (http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...-Kakadu/page10). They look good still and do the job, I don't find them too big. Of course if you are having to buy new there are plenty of options but since I already had the lights it was a cheap upgrade.

I bought Lightforce Genisis for the C-ute and they were the worst light I have seen for a long time. Quite poor output in standard QH form and the mounts continually moved. The Britax have a single mount which I don't much like but once set they stay put. The 60W spreads are what we are after but they won't pickle a wallaby at 750m, you need the 90W pencil beams for that. If you are after spread and not so much distance then consider a good lightbar. The one now resident on the C-ute does the job and was less than half the final price of the. Britax HIDs. Shines whiter and wider just not as far.

Another option that fit is the 225 narva hid.

Thanks again for the input everyone. I sat a 240 xgt on a tjm bar in the shop the other day and quickly decided I'm not a fan of the look - too big... Tjm have a bit of a deal on the 90w xray hid's till the end of the month so I'll go and have a close look at them on monday I think

I love the the look of the LF 240 HID's on my 150 with a TJM t13, I was like you when I first thought about, too big etc but once I sat them in there I quickly put the genesis back and grabbed them, the Britax are also a great light but I have always had LightForce and in my opinion you cannot beat them.

The light output is awesome as well, either way you cannot go wrong.

                      Cheers Dan

Will see what I can find Robert, had one from a Longreach run a while back, the only downside is signs (as in flashback) and when you have to dip for oncoming cars, it's like daylight to no light...
