Let me know how you go with pricing on the Foamcell Pro. I can make sure they look after you as we are a distributor here in WA. I will make sure a fellow PP gets a good deal!! For reference I run the "C" spring on the front to allow for steel bullbar and winch, and the "B" spring on the rear (0-300kg). The C spring on the rear is very stiff so unless you have big towball weights think carefully.

I think I will put that in the too hard basket, we actually sat down one night on the last trip and tried to work out when we did our major trips, it was hard enough just remembering the trips let alone when they happened, add in all the weekends and little jaunts like the one above and I would have no hope of remembering them all.

May I suggest an off-road skills course? It is definitely great to have 'all the gear', but it is potentially more important to reduce the 'no idea' factor.

You mention off-roading for work, so maybe you've had the benefit of some training there, but there is likely to be a big difference between what is covered in an OH&S focused 4WD course that is mainly showing you how to correct over-steer on a dirt road and change the tyres vs a true off road course which shows you recovery techniques.

You may be surprised how capable your vehicle is, already.

This has my vote as well as getting the hema explorer app for your tablet.
Get it out on the weekend and explore even just for a day. Anywhere you are posted you can find somewhere to explore and see the great things about our country. And getting experiance in how the prado handles off road is a lot better than driving those crappy euro cars your work owns.

No get the Hema 4wd app, I am old and cranky and I won't accept that this confounded new app is as good as my trusty old app

Done deal... I need to get my rig dirty by the end of this year.
I have decided to purchase the new suspension (might check out the beefy foam cell pro (value for money))/ awning/ oztent/ air compressor. It should be well under $4k. I need to stick to my budget, the missus wants a Yaris ZR for our second car.

                      Lol...

My work car is a king of the off road L/Cruiser and the G wagon. I have done some on/off road basic/advance driver training.

I wouldn't have bought the Prado if It did not fit the criteria of what I am looking for. My future plan is to go camping with the family, and I am hoping it will be for the Christmas break.

How about a bit of that fake stick on mud...

More seriously, with all the extra weight and more to come by the looks of it, I think you would be silly not to do something with the suspension.

I would be thinking also of replacing the tyres when they run out with maybe some all terrains instead of KM2's. As you have said you dont do a lot off off roading/mud work so muddies probably aren't the best choice. I have the all terrain BFGs and at times I wish they were KM2's when I am in mud, but the matter of fact is I do a lot more bitumen, sand driving and dirt road touring so muddies probably aren't the best option for me. I agree with the guys though get out there and enjoy it, in its current form it will impress you. Once you reach its limits then upgrade whatever is stopping you and continue that way. I think suspension is the way to go, even paying a shop to install it you can get away with it for about $1600-$1800 and thats brand new + installation + wheel alignment. Then I would look at some cheap mods like a roof rack and an awning. this can be bought for $500 combined from somewhere like 4wd supa centre or if you are after some better quality $1500 for a rhino rack and arb awning or something like that. However if its not being used every day the cheaper import options are fine in my opinion.

I would also wear your tyres out until about 40% remaining then flog them off second hand on gumtree when you still will get say $200 for the set or so and buy some all terrains. I personally wouldn't bother with an exhaust as of yet unless you're towing a lot as it reduces EGT's and improves economy (apparently).

                          Good luck, enjoy it

                            Thanks team!
I have ordered the roof bars/awning/Tagalong RV5 with an awning connector. Next on the list is to upgrade the suspension and purchase an air compressor.

I will go with a set of KM2s when the tyres needs replacing, like what they all say "once you go muddies you can never go back". I am happy with the price on the KM2s, it is better than paying for the tyres I had on my traded in car (Pirelli PZero Nero).
