I am looking to instal a GME or Oricom CB in my 150 diesel 2013 update model.
    I don't want a bulbar.
It was suggested to me today to instal a nudge bar to mount my mid size aerial on.
At $880 installed not a super cheap option but it has other benefits I suppose.

    Has anyone done this?
    Will it be strong enough?
    Your thoughts?
    Better options?

    thanks
    David

May not suit but if you have a roof rack or basket permanently mounted you could put a shorter aerial up there, run the cable down inside and unscrew the aerial when not in use. I had a similar setup with my old hilux, short one on top of roll bar. Worked well.

I don't have a roof rack but thank you for your idea. Does a roof rack have much affect on fuel economy or wind noise?

I had a small CB aerial mounted on a bracket which attached to the bonnet of my previous car an XTrail as there was enough panel gap. Worked well. Not sure if there is enough gap on the Prado. Anyone tried this?

        Thanks

In the end, a nudge bar isn't supposed to be used to ram anything, only for those light nudges and to mount lights and antennas onto without adding weight or disrupting the styling of the vehicle (as Symo says in the first few posts)
What should matter with nudge bars is how solid they are and don't jiggle the hell out of what you have attached on it.
