  • ARB 35 litre fridge - who has one as their primary fridge/freezer and is it sufficient in size.

Hi, looking at buying a fridge for my partner and i for 3 day weekends, up to a week camping with a once a year longer trip. Most people seem to buy the 47 litre or larger, but it is only the two of us and I am happy to do the put one in for each can of beer I take out, so don't need to keep a heap of cans, etc in there at any one time.

Can I ask who has a 35 litre fridge and is comfortable with that size ? My experience is that you will fill whatever you have, so if I go larger, i'll just fill it, but do I need to go larger ?

    cheers

We toured for quite a few years with a 39 litre fridge, that's with three of us and up to 14 days between shops, that was quite adequate.

We now have the 47litre ARB fridge and as you suggest we fill it, still with the three of us, in fact we often take both fridges on long trips now

    Cheers Andrew

We use the Waeco cfx 35 mostly. We only really use the Waeco cfx 65 on bigger trips then the 35 gets run as a freezer

I think the 35l size is a perfect size for a freezer and maybe just for 2 people it should be sufficient for 3 to 4 days as a stand alone fridge. I've the ARB 47l and I reckon for my future needs it should suffice? If I need a separate freezer I'm just going to buy one of the small Ice chest boxes (<=35l, not those small chiller esky's,) fill it with ice blocks and Ice and that should suffice. May see if one of those soft cooler bags will go over it to keep the heat off). I can't justify 2 expensive fridge/ freezers

A possibility for you is going up a size, vacuum and freeze all the frozen stuff then just get some corroflute from the landscape shop and use it between the frozen bottom and the fridge top bits. The only down to this is you will have to rummage through the top stuff to get to the bottom stuff but hey.

This is just what I will try in the future, I'm no guru at this!

I have an Engel eclipse MR40 which is 38lt, it suits two people fine for short trips. For longer trips i just dont put as many beers in initially and replace them as I drink them. Great size for the back of the prado IMO.
