The bar had to come off to get the winch in. No biggie though. 8 bolts in addition to the ones in the under guards. Plus unclipping the indicator lights. At first it looked like even the winch cradle or alternatively the remaining original front bumper has to come off as well but that can narrowly be avoided by sliding the winch in upside down and subsequently rotating it inside the cradle.

The winch is a Runva 11XP edition which includes the low profile handle as standard which is a time saver. To position the controller next to the winch (only possible on the right hand side) a simple bracket was fabricated from a Bunnings item. $2.08.

Thanks for your response it is appreciated. Can't recall but local TJM gave me quote that put me off (and I did not really like their yellow dyneema rope on their expensive winch!). Looks like a weekend coming in the garage.

Well after getting the bar fitted and the Spotties on I lost 10mm on each side.

So all factory I was 750mm now after 4 days I'm sitting on 740mm

It is also a good opportunity to retorque all the cradle nuts. One of mine did loosen up in the two weeks since installation which is not too surprising. There are a lot of bolts and a lot of tension which gradually gets released through vibrations. The bar is very solid and with all the kit there are now 100kg hanging on a lever on the chassis rail. To enable easy visual inspections I have now put a bead of thread locker on all threads.

According to TJM it is paramount to correctly install a supplied 4mm spacer between cradle and chassis rail. It is a very valid point as failure to do so according to TJM can increase mechanical stress beyond breaking point and can lead to cracks in bar and/or chassis. Ouch.

            Nice bar that!
A 50mm lift will get you up to the standard 790mm height which is said to be in the optimal range.
