  • Domin8or Winch Install - Guidance, Tips, Tricks & Gotcha's?

    Hi Guys,

Going to get a Domin8or winch installed on the Prado this weekend and seeking tips, tricks and notable gotchas for the install.

    * Do I need an offset hawse?
    * Do I need to take the bulbar off?
    * Did you need to purchase longer mounting bolts?

    Cheers!

    Frank

I'm not in any way familiar with that winch and have no idea what bullbar you have, but I installed my winch (Ironman) into my TJM myself and removed it as well and found that I had to take the bullbar off to get the winch in. Even if I didn't have to I reckon overall it would've made the job a lot easier anyway. I do recommend having a second person help you put the bullbar back on once the winch is bolted in because it will be damn heavy!.

Overall a seamless install really; didn't have to take off the bulbar. A couple of things I will recommend though:
      * replace the bolts that came with the winch with high tensile ones,
      * the hawse fairlead require longer bolts (35mm instead of 30mm).
