May not be necessarily lower as the platform still needs to clear models with a sunroof (for when it tilts up).

Rhino don't recomend the full length model for prados with sunroofs, at least that is what roof racks galore told me. The guy said it will fit but may foul the sunroof when I asked why he asked if I had a sunroof or not.

Depends how you fit it. My brother has the 1900L platform fitted to the rails with the SX legs and it's fine on his Altitude, sunroof is cleared.

If you remove the rails to lower the height, then quite probably you'll have an issue.

I was actually referring to the rack fitted directly to the roof with the legs, but the backbone would be very similar. The guy from roof racks galore couldn't say for certain it would hit, but was not going to take the chance without making the customer aware, and thus has never fitted one to be certain.

So does anyone actually know what the benefits of the backbone are? Why would I fit this over the legs?

Looks very nice. How does it sound at highway speeds?

My home made tray catches some air so I think I'll have to knock up some kind of front splitter/air dam...
                  Cheers

You've just twisted my arm to get the same setup now mate. Very tidy.
How's the noise on the highway?

I removed the factory mounts and fitted the platform with legs on my 2014 Altitude. Not an issue with the sunroof. Just tight to clean under the rack. Brought a flat mop with micro fibre cloth - perfect for the job.

Mate very little road noise on the highway just have to add a black 2m awning thinking about a Kings as it is $150 less than an ironman as I don't really need the LED lights

I'm not sure if this advice has been posted elsewhere but Auto-one stores have 20% off most Rhino products until Christmas Eve. I just bought a Foxwing awning.

Auto one, autobarn and most ARB stores all have 20% off.

Love my pioneer platform, it's awesome to through the 30secs tent on the roof or the standup paddle board or kayak it's so handy and I can still get it in the garage. Winners all round. And doesn't seem to have much drag or wind resistance. Cheers

I am restricted on head room in the garage now with bigger lifts and tyres. Does anyone know if there is a roof platform that when fitted is no higher than the original factory rails? Any brand.

Currently I have to remove and reattach it when I want to use it.
