  • Engel Fridge slide or Waeco Fridge slide?

I know- its probably been asked a million times....but i see Engel have recently upgraded their fridge slide, still appears to have same weight as before but has a cut out base instead of the original flat base....the reason i am looking at a Waeco fridge slide is that some folks on the interwebs reckon its better built and the high sides of the slide don't allow the rollers to rub on the fridge/fridge bag.
I have an ancient MT45 Engel but am only now getting around to mounting a fridge slide.
Has anyone experience in either slides?
What is the build quality like on the Engel?
The Waeco looks very similar to an ORS slide, not sure who was first, but looks quite well built. I checked out the Waeco slide at BCF. Nobody seems to currently stock the Engel so i would have to order it in from BCF

    Cheers
    Smokey

Had a look at both of these, neither lock out so you fridge goes sliding back in if you are parked on a downhill angle. Waeco looks better of the two but there are better options around IMO.

Oh dear -didn't know they don't lock out! Thats not a great design! I'd better have a closer look - not locking would drive me nuts after a while.

They both have a lever on them that looks very much like it's a slide lock. If not, what is the lever for?

I use the Waeco slide with a Engel MT 45 and it does lock in the closed and open position, its one of the only Waeco products that I havent had a problem with.

I have a new Waeco slide (suitable for 50/65 litre Waeco fridges) and it definitely locks in the fully out position operated by the same lever lock mechanism.

I'm also in the market for a fridge slide for my Evakool. What are the better options you refer to?

I have a Waeco slide for my 95 litre Evakool and it also locks in and out. The only issue i have had is it sometimes rattles when empty but a jockey strap took care of that

Depends how much $$$ you want to spend. I have had a look at the RV storage solutions slides (think Blackwidow) and they look very good. They only reason I have just got something different is that I wanted cage. I have just got a Dunn and Watson slide and cage, the cage didn't fit how I wanted to the RV solutions slide.

I have the 65L version and yes it can rattle a bit. The locking pin is probably my only complaint as it still allows a bit of play. One nice feature it provides (at least when used with a Waeco fridge) is the ability to bolt the fridge directly to the slide via nutserts in the bottom of the fridge and corresponding holes in the slide, no straps needed to secure the fridge then.

The locking pin is on the left side of the slide (not shown in photo), it's just a pin that goes through hole in the side of the slide and is secured by a split pin (a smaller version of the one you find on a tow hitch pin).

Just get BCF to price match it, they are part of the same parent company. That's what I did with my Blackwolf tent :-). That's a good price BTW, paid around that nearly 2 years ago.
