I have a TJM on my 150 - I cannot compare it to a Safari as I have not had one in the past, but...
I drove in a massive rainstorm from Stockton to Sydney - I'm talking "cannot see in-front of you"

When I stopped at home, my AirFilter-"white-mesh" that is before the "paper air-filter" was pretty wet - but the paper was 100% dry.
    - the airbox was dry, so the water came in as part of the air...

Have done a couple of long trips in heavy rain and has never been a problem...
    - would a Safari have been better? I do not know...
