  • Roof Racks for Awning

    Hi All,

Just bought a 2012 GX and am wanting to get an Awning for when we take the kids down to the beach.

To fit the awning I need some roof racks.

Just wondering if anyone can suggest a cheap option?

Seems silly to be spending 500 bucks on something just so I can fit something else to it.

    Cheers

    Craig

Toyota sells the 3-bar HD set for around $300. It is a rebadged Rhinorack. Otherwise, check on ebay or Gumtree for some 2nd hand ones.
Just remember that as a guide, there should be a maximum of 60cm overhang of the awning from its mounting point.

I've seen them attached straight to the side rails which means you won't need the roof racks

The GX don't come with roof rails, though.

I would fit a Rhino Pioneer Tradie and fit the awning to the side of it. My awning is bolted onto brackets onto Rhino Aero bars (2off) which are mounted to the std roof rails. Given you dont have the rails and have to do something, go all the way and do option 1 I suggested (if budget suits). Do it once, do it right.

The tradie is nice but seems a bit pricey to just fit an awning to

Ideally i'd get something with the lowest height as possible too, our bloody garage is crap and would love to avoid having to take them on and off
