Hi all hopefully this is the right place for this question.

The photo shows my mild steel awning brackets. There are 3 of these on my 2.5m long awning. I want to replace these brackets with alloy. Would 25 x 6mm be strong enough. Thanks for any help.

Why the change to alloy? But to answer your question, yes, three 6mm brackets should be fine. Alloy does fatigue (cold work) when bent so the larger the bend radius the stronger it will be. Also if you smooth the edges by filing or sanding it will be stronger when you bend it as there are fewer stress raisers that could crack.

If you are making them yourself grab some stainless flat and use that.

Thanks guys. Mild steel ones are already starting to rust. Was going alloy as I have it at work.

I guess the awning bracket is the least of my worries now. Not happy considering we leave for our trip around Aus in 8wks.

Another car failed to giveaway on a roundabout. Front quarter panels on both side and the bonnet are damaged. Tore the crumple zones up off the chassis.
