  • Heads Up Display

After reading pretty much what had to be read about HUD's and the I went ahead and bought one of this cool gadgets from Amazon: "Eoncore New Universal 5.5" Car A8 Hud Head Up Display with OBD2 Interface".

Couldn't really find much about the OBD2 that is placed on my 2012 diesel Prado but I figured it would probably work well. Well just to let you know that the this gadget doesn't work at least on this model.

Did find later that Toyota changes certain codes on the 16 pin connector.

I thought OBD2 was a standard mandated by law?

The plug and the main data trouble codes are standardised. There are also manufacturer specific data trouble codes. The live data can be encoded different ways, there is no standard format for that information.

Moreover, within the legal frame there is some flexibility, so an accessory might work on one vehicle and not work on another one. For instance the HUD Im writing about works on a Toyota Camry.
