  • Brand new bull bar, but only three chassis bolts

Had a brand new major brand bullbar fitted yesterday by their workshop. Picked up the vehicle after dark, in the rain,Click image for larger version

ID:	661944 so wasn't able to do a full visual inspection. That time I had at the workshop was basically spent having the operation of the winch explained (never had one before).

Did a short 200k trip around Sydney today and did a thorough inspection when I got home. Checking the bullbar attachment to the chassis on the pax side was fine, two bolts where I expected them. On the drivers side it was a little different, only one bolt and an empty, slightly misaligned hole! One conclusion is that the mechanic couldn't align the two holes so didn't bother with properly securing it!

Here's the pics. I doubt if the engineering specs for the bar allow for an optional three main attachment bolts only, or am I missing something here.
A call to the shop will be one of the first things I do Monday morning.

Not good enough, go straight back to them. My bullbar has all 4 bolts (2 each side) even with KDSS complicating things (well it did with the recovery points anyway). The strength of the bar's mounting to the chassis would be compromised with having the missing bolt.

Thats a piss poor effort go and put on a shitty, Check they didn't forget to put your recovery point back on.

In Sydney, but before I get into blame and shame on the forum I'll contact them tomorrow and give them an opportunity to offer a reason and remedy.

Could be any number of places, Mulgrave, Parramatta, Artarmon, Thornleigh, Hornsby, Narellan ,St. Peters Brookvale , Milpera and any other suburb that may have a 4wd store that I can't think of ATM
I think Sarco is correct in giving the supplier the option of rectifying the issue first before a witch hunt is conducted.

From memory the TJM bar has 3 bolts per side.
1 in the threaded hole in the Chassis and 2 using the nut on the wire.

                      could be wrong?

Not wrong Fred but right, 3 bolts per side.

Back from the shop where the tapped backing plate was properly aligned within the chassis box and the missing bolt inserted. Happy customer, although the job should have never left the workshop in that condition. Will not be naming and shaming as this was my first dealing with this mob, it was fixed satisfactorily & we all make mistakes. That's why they put rubbers on the end of pencils.

In my views they should be named. Purely so anyone getting work done there can make sure it's correctly done.
Kudos to them for fixing the stuff up though, that's a good outcome. Mistakes do happen it's how they are dealt with that matter.
