Hi, I'm after finding out what the minimum accessories are along with some recommendations on models and stored for my intended activities with my 4WD. I'll be totally upfront and confess to being an absolute newby when it comes to 4WDs having only driven up to Double-Island once with a much more knowledgeable friend who used to work in the mines in northern WA. Whilst we had nothing with us (kit-wise) in a 4.7l Landcruiser that we didn't take any air out of I understand that there a likely few locations where this is practical or advisable.
My car is just a straight factory edition with a tow-bar and new Michelin LTX Force tyres to replace the factory GrandTreks that didn't seem to last too well.
My intended use, apart from 90+% tarmac, would be mainly beach. I like the idea of being able to take the kids to Double-Island or Rainbow Beach, being able to go to Moreton Island without staying at Tangalooma or at least being able to get around - I've stayed at a fishing shack up at Bulwer which was great. I'd also like to visit Fraser at some point. Night skys with no light pollution and a fresh sea breeze are just something else in my opinion.
My initial guess to what I should start with is:
Other things I am interested in getting initially or over time
I'm interested as to whether people think a bull-bar or under-armour is necessary. I've seen a mix on Moreton of utes with bars and families with stock wagons like mine.
I'd greatly appreciate any recommendations of accessories / upgrades, models, and stores to buy or shops that fit them - especially for the compressor model and advice on the recovery points. I'm located on the south-side Eastern Brisbane.
I also intend taking a course offered by Australian Offroad Academy or Australian 4WD for sand driving and recovery as learning as I go in a new vehicle is likely not advisable and they teach up at Noosa or Bribie which are both locations I am likely to visit.
Thanks.

My initial guess to what I should start with is:
- Maxx-Trax or similar
- Portable Compressor - recommendation here would be good. Seems like the Dr Air Pro 150 got an ok test result on 4x4 Australia for the price.
- Front recovery points
- Rear recovery points (or shackle fitting for tow-bar slot, not sure if strong enough though)
- Recovery kit with shovel - I'm guessing people get sick of guys that have the points but no straps
Other things I am interested in getting initially or over time
- Roof mounted awnings - do they mount ok to the factory rails or is it better to attach to a roof tray?
- Roof tray as the car can get full at times
- Roof mounted tent - I like the idea of not having to setup on the ground (and all the kit it entails) or buy a camper trailer (although they do look enticing) and the whole family are unlikely to go camping but I might be able to get away to meetups or similar or persuade one of the kids to try it.
