  • Driving lights, which ones to fit to the 150???

Anyone fitted driving lights to a D4D yet? I heard there was an issue of disrupting airflow to the front mount intercooler. Surely it wouldnt make that much of a difference??

But it would still have to be better than being top mounted - the old position must have been very susceptable to heat soak. Why else would Toyota have moved it?

It's a 2 tonne Prado not a WRX, heat soak isn't that much of an issue

Driving lights, which ones to fit to the 150???

Ok I now have my Prado (so I can be a real PP member).

I have an Alloy ECB Bar and one of the first things I want to fit is driving lights.

Asked the dealer about thye intercooler issue and he said "as long as you dont fit those gigantic Light Force lights you should be fine" BUT this is a salesman after all and he already had my cash.

                So what to fit???

Now in saying this I do NOT expect to do a great deal of night time driving but I do want to cover myself just in case and the standard GXL lights are pretty crappy really.

                So what should I do.
150 Silver Diesel GXL Auto with ECB Bullbar, Toyota Factory towbar, Black Widow Drawer system with Fridge slide and cargo barrier, GME UHF 3340 Radio, Waeco 50 Litre Fridge, Rhino Racks and Rhino Basket, ARB Awning, IPF XS Spotties, ABR Sidewinder Dual Battery system,Airtec Snorkel, Bilstien Shockies, King Springs, Poly Airbags and BFG A/T''s. Now towing a semi offroad Lotus Freelander 18.6 Van, with all the bells and whistles.

If it were me, I would fit a set of Hella Rallye 4000 compacts.
2008 Diesel Prado with extra stuff added. I drive it on the road and other places too.

I've fitted the Lightforce spotties to the genuine Toyota Alloy Bar on my 150. Doesn't seem to be a problem and fit well. Tried to attach a photo but struggling as still learning how to work this sight, just joined.

I was in TJM at Coopers Plains this morning looking at lights...can't justify $1000 for HID for the amount of night time driving (potentially) I'll be doing BUT the sales guy said "why don't you upgrade your normal lights to HID"

I didn't even know you could but it seems about $300 will get me HID normal lights, and I think for what I do it's about all I'll need...does anyone have any experience with these......I think they were an XRay brand???

After I pick up my GXL later this week, and get a bar fitted, I'll be putting the Lightforce 170s on it from my old Triton.

I've been very happy with the 170s, tough as nails and decent light coverage.

Buy a VX or Kakado, free HID, no need for spotties.

For it to be legal, don't you need headlight washers if you converted normal lights to HID?
