  • Side Steps for GX

I am looking for side steps for my 150 GX. I really don't think I want rocksliders but I would like something better than the genuine things they call side steps.
Does any one have any suggestions where to look? Web links would be good.

I went and spoke to the local ARB dealer. Because of the side airbags there is nothing available at the moment. ARB say they are under development. So I will have to wait for a while.

not much between the genuine steps and the rock sliders..

you can get good looking rock sliders and they offer better protection to the sills if you are ever offroad.

i've already ripped the brackets off my drivers side step and banged the passenger side's one flat. i think sliders are the way.

There is a place in Newcastle called load rail who are fitting steel steps to the new gx's on behalf of the dealer. I will be having a look at them this week.

NK - do you know if they are covered under the Toyota warranty as they are essentially fitting them for the customer. ie: if i buy a car from toyota - they should at least agree it is suitable.. especially regarding airbag compatibility.

silvo, I spoke to the salesman at Toyota today and he claims there are no warranty issues by them being fitted and that they are having them regularly fitted by loadrail on behalf of customers.

I also went to load rail and had a look at them. They are essentially similiar looking to the ARB steel side steps except the check plate is black rather then silver.

The bloke at load rail says that it's bollocks about the side steps causing a problem for the air bag. They are fitting them regularly to vehicles, particularly fleet vehicles.

Anyway I have decided to have them fitted.

The fitted cost through Toyota is $765.00. I will post pics once I get the vehicle but that won't be till the end of the month.
