i have done it in the prado, and water entered the car through the air-con system. i had 2 inches of water in the centre console, under the carpet on the drivers and passenger's sides and behind both front seats.. needless to say i spent a long night cleaning muddy water out from the car..

if you were looking at some serious protection, as richo has suggested, a dust bowl precleaner would be better than the sock, but you can't fit one to the airtec, only the safari.

Obviously i wouldnt be going out of my way to drown a new prado worth 60+k, but i have unexpectedly hit holes whilst doing water crossings causing it to come up higher than i'd like. It could quite easily happen if someone were to rush in a bit quick aswell.

Strange you copped that much water inside, i have never had an issue with my 105 cruiser and have had water come up quite high.

Either way, im just raising points for people to consider as these things can happen.
If you really have that much water coming over the top of your bonnet, up the windscreen to the top of the roof you are an idiot for driving so fast through water that's that deep!!! As for driving into the holes, water that deep you should have walked it first then relized there were holes and drive slowly. Not really an issue.

LOL Silvo, my Misus would kill me if I did that to a two day old car, thats why I never tell her . Did you have the Aircon on recirculate? Just wondering if that would stop it comming in.

          Cheers

                Hi Dan

We all do make these decisions at one point or another, this is what we buy these cars for, 4Wdriving not driving the kids to soccer (me anyway), no major damage means the 4WD met its design spec.

An interesting aside is I took my car in for the 6 months service and the dealer complained about the mud on the engine and underneath the car as I hadn't had a chance to wash it since the Duck Ck Rd trip on Sunday.

Too bad, so sad Mr Dealer it is a 4WD!!

                Regards, Richo.

                    As well

If they were so worried why did I get it back with the same mud on it?

                    Regards, Richo.

You're a braver man than I Silvo. I don't think I could write what the Misses would have done to me if I'd done that with a 2 day old car. Nice footage though.

Love the sleek look of the Airtech snorkels :!:

                              Very tidy units.

Yup, the video is great. In your excitement can you recall roughly what speed you hit the puddle at.

I must say that I haven't used the new Prado as a submarine but the missus did get it buried up to the side steps in a huge puddle two weeks after we brought it home - her first off road drive too
