I spoke to Rhino again the other day and they say the adaptors for the heavy duty bars aren't even on the drawing board yet so they are a long way off. Sports bars for me...

I have the Sportz bars too. I also have a Rhino Platform Rack which is fantastic. Low profile so you can leave it on and still get in the garage! I had the same setup on my Pajero and we did 6000km through the Flinders Ranges, Ooodnadatta Tk and the Red Centre with a spare wheel, tyre, tent, and fuel jerrys (empty most of the time) with no issues.

The roof load limit is only 80kg which the Sportz bars easily cover so not sure why you'd want anything more heavy duty anyway.

For those with the sports bars, how do you tighten the feet so that it grabs onto the roof rails? Is the end cap an integrated tool that you turn which then moves the inside half of the feet to grab onto the roof rails? And this same action also locks the cross bar from moving side to side? If that is the case, then it probably is a bit hard to integrate an adaptor to the existing feet.

I think the sports bars looks good on the factory rails anyway. If you needed HD bars, then it is better to remove the roof rails and bolt the HD bars directly to the roof.

Heavy duty Rhino-rack

The end caps come off which reveal an allen head bolt. You get a long allen key with the bars which you use to tighten it and bring the two sides if the feet together to wrap around the side rails. It's a very tight and secure fitting.

Agreed, I was just trying to re-use what I had already bought. I now have the sports bar and have sole the HD's so all good in the end.

Hi I've got a question on the factory's rack dimension that would like to seek your help if you are an owner.

Sorry for interrupting the original discussion. I am a will-be owner of this Prado 150 and unfortunately I find my garage has a
maximum height of 1.8m and will be considering REMOVING the original rack so that the factory quoted '1860mm' height can be
reduced to preferably 1800mm or below.

Before considering modifications to the suspension to achieve this, I just wonder if I can just remove the rack. Would appreciate if you can
measure the height of the rack and then I may know if that's worth that 60mm or I need to adjust suspensions, or even worse modify the roof of the garage (with much higher cost).

Mikelau,

the 150 series brochure for the GX model, which does not have the bars on it, say the GX is 1845mm high so I think you will be out of luck even if you remove the bars.

thanks for such quick response and information! I've checked my local options of prado 150, finding that the only 2 available options
also quote the vehicle heights as 1860mm (my will-get version) VS 1845mm.

The thing is that they also have different tyre options (first one 18inches, second one 17inches).

I was so stupid that during my test drive with the sales person, I should have brought a ruler to measure the height of the racks. I just
simply overlooked this issue and now the trouble is that the dealer is likely NOT willing to adjust the suspensions 60mm lower for me, with the
reason of 'not wanting to disturb the original electronic settings of suspensions' that sort of reasons.... sigh...

Anybody can measure your rack heights here for me? Thanks.

I think you looking at the wrong car if you are looking at reducing the ride height to get into a garage, is your issue the door or the actual height of the garage, in my case the door was 100mm lower than the height of the garage cross beam so i was able to relocate the door upwards almost 75-80 mm which gave me enough room to lift the vehicle and still access the garage.

Probably I may have other choices but that I was planning to elevate the suspensions and go offroad, until I found out that my car will be coming but my parking place was 1.8m, on part of the roof tops. Was my fault of not considering things more carefully.

Will eagerly awaiting for any owners of 150 who could help me measuring it.

I relieved my week old 150 of its rails today and put on the Rhino RLCP23 so I could use my heavy duty bars from my previous 120.

A real benefit I see with the Rhino legs is there are only six screws holding the six feet in place so easily removed and thus allowing me to park more places with the lift in place.

The Rhino kit allows you to leave the base plates in place and when you remove the feet there is a cove to go on covering the holes. A good bit of kit.

Does anyone know where the thread is which lists the Toyota parts required when removing the factory roof rack and fill the holes?
