  • Fitting of UH015 radio

gday guys now have arb fitted and antennae mounted, the hardest part where to fit the remote head unit for the uhf, i have a couple of ideas

    1. fitted in the ressesed area which houses the 4wd activation knb (means i can reach the bottom half of the 4wd knod to turn it)
    2. where ppl have fitted their brake controllers (above the left knee airbag) downside is the mic cord would rub on leg...i can see that get anoying after a short period

but any othe ideas would be great, many thanks

    Hi Gympiebrowns

Mounted my unit under the resessed area you mentioned. Works very well, and is angled up for a clear view of the channel etc. I can still reach the 4WD and diff/dac buttons with no problem. The main unit is under the gearshift console, with speaker close to the steering column.

        Hi

I didn't fit it myself- just watched the technician do it. He removed the assorted panels - they all "pull" out as they are clipped in.

There is little space up there for a speaker and also it is a solid pannel not a speaker grill that it looks like. I had mine out the other day while fitting my radio (Icom IC-440).
Start with the section of dash that has the fan controlls on it. Pull it out (could start with a little lever from a screwdriver) then the suround around the reversing screen then finaly the top section of the vents area. Should take about 2 min to get this far. Most of the pannels just clip on down the sides with a couple of screws that are in view. The console is a little more difficult though. As I havent really got that far I cant explain it to you. I mounted the radio under my drivers seat with velcro to the carpet. This works fine and should keep it there easily.
          I hope this helps
