  • Fitting ARB 900XLS

    Hi everyone, I've done a search and not found any thread for this so I'll start it.

    I've got a 2014 GXL with ARB Deluxe bull bar and want to install 2 X 900XLS series 2 driving lights. They come with Deutsch DT-6 connectors installed and my Prado already has a wiring harness used for other lights. Thing is I don't know what connecters they are! Have a look at the picture.

    If I can find out what these are maybe I can swap off the DT-6 from the lights and keep using the same harness connection.

    Has it had driving lights previously? Is there an extra/ hidden switch on/under the dash? If yes plug a test light into that connector and have a play. The "other lights" you talk about, were they driving lights? Follow the wiring and see what it is connected to, especially if there is a relay somewhere. That plug id not a normal Toyota one so you may be lucky.

      Thanks 404pug. What I know so far is the connectors installed currently are Narva Waterproof 2-way connectors. They are fully wired in and there is a switch on the dash for that circuit.

      They are rated to 20Amp so I'm fairly certain that I can cut off the DT-6 connectors on the 900XLS lights and install a female Narva 2-way. Will have to do some more reading. Don't see why not, from what I can tell the Deutsch DT-6 have multiple pins for current redundency, seems to be the focus of that range is reliability under extreme circumstances.

        Why do the lights have a 6 pin connector? Are only two active? In my opinion the Deutch connectors are better but up to you.

          Thanks mjrandom. I believe that they have multiple active and neutral for redundancy. I don't know why ARB installed the DT-6 and not a more common one like DT-2 or 4, but hey I live in a world of over-engineering s**t because we can charge more.

          I think I can just swap the DT-6's out for Narva 2's. Would be a lot easier than messing with the loom already installed.

            DT-06 are sthe standard plug looking at the ARB site... Odd that it is wired like that.

              Hi all

              Similar but different question... i have the wiring from lights of previous owner. They took them before I bought the car. All loom etc in place with two Deutsch connectors in place. Cannot find a switch in the cabin.

              I don't think the install was a home job as ARB did everything else on it. Wouldn't make sense to me. I think they were ARB32s.

              My question is: where would the button/switch be hidden if it was in the cabin. Cannot see it with all trim on at the moment.

              Ps does anyone know if ARB can look up on their records from previous owners work for you?

                Mickyd123 they could be wired up to the high beam maybe? Or there could be a foot switch? Or.....the switch may have been removed. It couldn't be too far away from the driver's seat as it needs to be reached while driving.
