    Nothing wrong with straps. Rope is lighter and takes less space in the recovery kit and you can get custom made lengths. Rope also simplifies the process with double line or more complex recoveries.

    Winching load will vary depending on surface, depth of bog, incline and free movement of wheels. Regardless of which WLL you choose consider a winch extension rope instead of strap. You can't use Strap through a pulley. Use of a pulley or multiple pulley blocks also reduces the load on the winch.

    Winching doesn't give shock loads like snatch straps, more a gentle constant pull. So 4500 would do for a standard prado and never use it snatching.
