Geoff, if u have a look at my build up I have the plug in one of blanks to the left of the steering wheel, the only reason for this is we thought if it was vertical in the centre console it my get crap in it.
I also have the main box mounted in under the centre console and their is no issue with sound quality from my GME 3540.

        He Hutch,

Yes I've looked at your rig build up quite a few times for ideas :-) and im going to be doing the same with the cable for the remote mic.
I don't think sound will be an issue, it was just a thought in case its not loud enough for me, cheap to do, and easy when im installing it. My problem is too many years of not wearing ear protection at work, and too many concerts.
        Geoff

Im not Bogged - I've just lost traction. . . . . and now I'm showing the wife why I bought those Maxtrax, and the tyre deflator, and the compressor, and the bullbar, and the winch, and a lot of other goodies I've hidden in the Prado

My Icom unit has an RJ45 connector like that but it's part of the extension lead that connects to the base unit. So far I haven't managed to work out where the actual base unit is hiding, it was already installed in the 150 at purchase. My plug is mounted on the side of the centre console down by the driver's left thigh/knee, only hassle so far is it makes the mike lead a bit stretched in use.
