Have just ordered a new 150 gxl diesel auto and was wondering if any one has had fitted a hayman reese tow bar. And would be able to up load me a pic :?:
Thanks guys for the pics. The dealer where i am buying our new prado recomended a hayman reese over a toyota because in his opinion the toyota bars are Ugly.
I have seen only toyota bars fitted so was keen to see a hayman reese fitted.
Cheers Invy1
just had a haymen reese fitted, toyota bar looked too ugly, however does provide some rear end protection if your butt gets dragged over a rut, just watch where they fit the trailer plug, they had to refit mine; when I called in to have a look incompleted, I told them it had to be moved as it would get ripped off first trip.

I have the Toyota bar and while it doesn't look as 'clean' it does provide good rear end protection. My trailer plug is on the top, well out of harms way.
Cheers, Sam.

Tried to book my 150 in for a Hayman Reece with a local reputable caravan place. I was told they would love to sell me the HR, but I would be better off getting the Toyota bar as it was a stronger unit. So that's what I did.

Hello davidsford. I see you have fitted sheepskin covers. I've been told they are a no-no because they impede the air bag deployment. Is this true? ( There is soooo much misinformation out there!)

As Richo said just make sure they are airbag compatible, they have what I guess are break away sections in them so that when the seat airbags go off they rip apart. Hope I never get to find out
A bit far away for you guys, but I purchased a good set of sheep skins for the front seats in Sydney, that have an open section on the upper outside for the airbag deployment. The open section is stitched to avoid fraying, and the skins are very comfortable. Aussie Sheep and Wool at Rockdale.
Have just ordered the hayman reece for fitting next week to my 150 series diesel GXL
My Van is 2000kg with ball weight 170kg. Plus gear water etc it will be about 2400-2500kg
Guy at Hayman reece said the HR bar fits to the middle of the toyota chassis rail (No tube section steel like the standard toyota bar and some of the other bars seen here) He said its a 3000kg bar.
Price was not my concern just want to be sure I get the best bar for my set up.
Appreciate feedback on which bar will be best.
cheers. MM
Just on the topic of towbars, has anyone fitted a Towmaster Towbar from ARB, if so what do they think of it?
Are there any pics of one fitted?
Finally how do the differ from the Toyota ones?
Please advise

Hi MM,
Can I ask where did you get the Hayman Reece bar installed and are you happy with the installation ?
cheers

I'm new to this forum, have fitted a hayman reese bar to my new VX, took me about 2.5 hours, must remove the entire rear bar not hard providing that you get the complete instructions with the bar. The wiring is very easy just plug into the original toyota plug to the rear. Bar looks awesome. Cheers
