  • Additions to GX

    Hi folks,
First posting, so please be kind if I've done anything wrong.
I'm looking for your wisdom/opinion on a couple of additions to stock GX (2023 build):
    • Sidesteps - would like some good* quality aftermarket items which we can use to actually stand on, as opposed to just tubular rock-sliders.
We would also like the ability to extend at some point to brush bars and bull bar but, ideally, don't want to splash all the necessary cash at once.
    • Rear eLocker or air-locker - not sure if we really need one and, if recommended, which is best? Drawn to Harrop's eLocker but maybe I'm a sucker for the marketing!
We won't intentionally head for gnarly tracks, but we do intend to tow our small off-road 'van for big lap(s) and don't relish the idea of being completely stuck with spinning wheel syndrome.
    Many thanks,
    J

    * good is, of course, highly subjective. But not really interested in cheap chinese items, or ones where you need to re-engineer them to actually fit.

Try 4wd specialist wreckers and get a set off a GXL. They bolt straight on.

Does the gx have traction control?
If it does, I wouldn’t worry about the rear locker. Traction control will be more than adequate for what you intend to do.
For touring, you won’t need a locker and there is a long list of mods that would be useful well before you need to invest in one. Yes they are awesome if you need them, but $2500 per end is a lot of more useful add ons.

GX does have traction control and all of the other electronic safety measures.

In that case, save the money and put it to other mods.

Thanks to 404pug and Daniel150 for replying.
I'll be on the look out for OEM side-steps as well as researching after-market ones too.
As for eLocker, that's useful to know that the traction control is good for most eventualities. As you say, several $k's of saving if we don't really need one.
            Cheers,
            J
