  • ARB bar weight

Went into ARB yesterday to enquire about bullbars.

Rightly or wrongly I am concerned about the extra weight on the front of the car, so I asked how much they weighed. The salesman refused to give me any sort of answer, maintaining that ARB HQ won't release the weights of their bars, even to staff!

I am tossing up between the Sahara bar and the winch bar, with the weight difference between the two being a factor in my decision.

Does anyone know the weight of these bars?

    Cheers

My ARB bar that is fitted to my 120 GXL is around 50 - 55 kg, that is what my local ARB staff told me last week. Just fit a lift kit, spotlights and a winch while your going 8)

Thanks bilo. 55 kgs is reasonable. Don't worry, I've got the Lightforce spotties from the 100 ready to bolt on, I just need something to bolt them to! The lift.....

            Hi Rambo

I measured my 150 before and after the ARB Deluxe bar and it dropped 7mm drivers side and 9mm passenger side, I also have dual batteries and spotlights but no winch. The lift goes on next Friday as I want some more clearance for the underbody.

            Regards, Richo.

              Thanks Richo,

It seems the weight up front is minimal - I'll balance it out with the Kaymar rear bar up back  BTW, what lift kit are you using?

                Rambo

I'm going with Old Man Emu Nitrocharger Sports, the standard kit gives ypu 45mm on the front and 50 on the rear, I'm also putting Firestone air bags in the rear as well for touring.

                Regards, Richo.

                    Re: ARB bar weight

From ARB HQ here in Bayswater Vic, the bar weighs 'about' 60 kgs.

Looks like the OME kit wins - $1700 fitted.

                      Hi Folks

My suspension is in and the result for a standard lift for steel bar is 40mm on the front and 30mm on the back, the ride is stiffer but better on country type roads.

                      Regards, Richo.

                        Re: ARB bar weight

I just installed the ARB combination bar and WARN XD9000 winch without any lift on a 150 VX, the extra weight is very noticeable especially on braking.

It appears that this changes the weigh distribution between front and rear a fair bit basically making the rear brakes not as effective as normally. One thing I have learnt is that you need upgraded suspension for ARB combination/deluxe bar, probably even without winch.

                        Regards
                        Andy
