  • Window Tint Workmanship

    Hi all,

I have a question regards what’s acceptable workmanship for window tint. On all of my privacy glass windows I have had clear tint applied to cut down on the UV rays and heat. From the top left corner to half way along the top of the rear left window, the tint has been cut 1-3mm short of the black dot matrix pattern on the edge of the glass i.e. you can see the edge of the tint on the see through part of the glass. To me this does not look neat and is unacceptable. Am I being to fussy? For all my previous new vehicles I have never seen something like this. I will post photos when I can.

i'd like to see photos, but i would think if it looks strange, then you are not being too fussy.

      Howdy Blackcoal,

No you're not being fussy at all. Doesn't sound good to me. I had the dealer tint mine b4 delivery, and there are no visible gaps. I would not be happy...

Please see photos. I have provided a more extensive set of photos to the dealer. 24hrs ago they were not interested, however now they seem more willing. Fickle bunch. Hopefully it works out fine. If not I won't be afraid to name and shame.

The window tint has been replaced free of charge. The workmanship this time is top notch. Must have been a bad day.

            Cheers,

            Andrew

Hardly replaced free of charge unless they refunded your money from first attempt at tinting windows.

You had already paid them no doubt top money for a sub standard job, if they charged a lower rate then the standard rate then the work provided reflected the cost, if they charged top dollar then the work does not reflect the investment but the attitude of the company and its employees.

Too many people are willing to accept sub standard workmanship these days even though they are being charged top dollar or close to it. Good on you for standing up for what you had paid for 8) and shame on the company for trying to slip it by as a reasonable install.

Time to get off the soap box and let someone else in.

                Re: Window Tint Workmanship

Not being a window tint expert my first thought was that if the film is applied over the dot areas you may have issues down the track as there is potential for the film to bubble or peel as this area isn't a smooth surface
