  • Roof Tray fitment to factory rails with no cross bars

I'm in search of light luggage roof tray solution that fits to factory roof rails on the GXL without the need for cross bars. My garage high is limited and does not allow for the fitment of roof tray on top of crossbars and I don't want to mess around with removing the factory rails everytime I want to use a the trady. The tray will carry not more than a tent and few camping chairs.

    Any ideas?

Look in the rhinorack website. something like this might suite your requirements.

U really need cross rails, their is a brand that sits inside of the factory rails ie no height increase and something safe and easy to sit a basket on, check " rogerthatv2" build up he has bars that sit inside.

Prorack is the go, S45 is the part number that I used and fits the OE bars with no issue.

As Hutch mentioned if you need cross rails, see the link http://www.whispbar.com.au/findmycar , which has a low profile cross rails.

Rola also has low profile crossbars that go in between the factory rails. Part no. RBXL158

I also installed the Prorack S45 Whisper bars, and I was pleasantly surprised at the very high build quality, and whilst a little expensive (in NZ ...even though I think they are made here), they are well worth the outlay. And they are as quiet as claimed, .....can't hear any wind noise from them at all.

Thanks. I the Prorack Whisper seems more streamlined than the Rola ones.

Have a look at this link. Rhino now have a new Pioneer Alloy Platform Rack which has optional side rails and a variety of fitting methods. At $694 it's not cheap though. http://www.rhinorack.com.au/AccSubCateg ... 89_68.aspx

I forgot to mention - click on the fitting instructions link to get a better idea of how they work. You can either just use the legs off your crossbars (if you don't have roof rails), or attach the tray in the conventional way (which you would do if you have crossbars on your roof rails).
