We have a white 2006 Toyota Prado. We had the rear wheel and cover stolen. I replaced it with the same tyre as the other 4 which are Mickey Thomson 4 wheel drive tyres and now I can't fit the cover on. (The people we bought the vehicle from must have had a stock tyre under the cover, but I've been told by several tyre shops as well as the guys at toyota that if I got a flat tyre I couldn't use a stock tyre because it would throw everything out of balance and could cause lots of damage. I was just wondering if there are any aftermarket wheel covers that I could buy to fit over a larger tyre and have painted to match the car (as toyota only make one size?)

Re: Prado Rear Wheel Cover to fit 4 wheel drive tyres
Hi
I have Mickey Thomson ATZ's 265/70/17 on my 150 and the spare tyre cover goes over that. Might be worth asking your dealer to try one and how much.

Hey Richo thanks for that as I was wondering about wheels for the next car, however I think Shelley has a 120 and has just posted in the 150 section.Originally posted by RichosonHi

Re: Prado Rear Wheel Cover to fit 4 wheel drive tyres
Hi Fella's,
Thanks for your replies.... the tyres are 265/70/R17 which sounds like what the other guy has but being a chick I didn't understand what 120 or 150 means? Do you think the cover should fit over? The guy at Toyota's front desk said it wouldn't but he also said I could drive with a standard tyre - until he went and confirmed with one of the service guys!

Ok so I've made a few more phone calls and NO you definately can't get a hardcover to fit over the larger 4 wheel drive tyres! How ridiculous when so many people want to have 4 wheel drives tyres on their cars that they wouldn't make them in a bigger size!

Re: Prado Rear Wheel Cover to fit 4 wheel drive tyres
Shelley, the 120 is a 2003-2009 prado the 150 is a 2009 onwards prado, you actually have posted undwr the 150 section hence the confusion. Did u ring TJM as the cover i have has some adjustment to it and when i brought it it came in a lot of sizes. Secondly i would not drive your car with two different size tyres as it can cause issues with the drivetrain been a constant 4 wheel drive vehicle. Anyhow good luck with your search. Maybe you could buy a 150 series cover off one pf the boys that have removed theirs as their is a few on here, as Richo said it would fit.Rob

Re: Prado Rear Wheel Cover to fit 4 wheel drive tyres
Shelly, the 120 and 150 and 90 even are the series that Toyota released the Prado in. in Australia we had the 90 series frpom around 1993 to 2002 then the 120 series was released from 2002 until 2009 and now the 150 series is out.Originally posted by ShellybeachgirlHi Fella's,

In regards to real tyres not having the hard covers well that suits me fine. I had one of the hard wheel covers on the old 65 profile tyres and was glad to be rid of it. When I had to change a tyre it was just another thging to muck around with that I didn't want to worry about.Nick
