  • Debrik and body damage behind spare wheel carrier

While cleaning my car today thought I'd check behind the spare wheel carrier. Found lots of little stones wedged in some of which had caused deep scratches to the paint. My mate found similar damage on his car. I'm now trying to fit some foam to stop debris getting behind the wheel carrier.

I have done a fair bit of towing and I think that's how the stuff got flicked up off the trailer. I'll need to look at getting a stone guard for the trailer.

Very annoying problem, and worth checking next time you clean your car as the scratches will go through to metal after a while.

    Hello Krypto,

Try decent mud flaps on the car, you will get better protection for both the car and the trailer. Make your own if need be instead of waiting for Toyota to come up with flaps that work.
