Hi All,
Washing the car today after a weekend at the Manjimup 15000 and pulled the spare off to clean all the crap out from behind it. Noticed the carrier had a series of cracks around the top left stud.
Had been getting an annoying rattle when closing the rear door lately and now have the source.
I had spaced the spare wheel off the carrier with 2 suitable washers on each stud, when I had the Cooper S/T Maxxs fitted at about 70k, now at 110k, and do a 5 wheel rotate every 5k.
Can't remember when the annoying rattle started, but had put it down to the spare coming loose, so would remove all 3 nuts and retension when it got too annoying.
Just wondering if any others have experienced this as a search revealed that a lot of you have spaced the wheel off the carrier like I did.
I'll talk nicely to Toyota first and then look for a replacement carrier and better spacer option.
