  • 2009-2011 150 Mudflap Upgrades

    Hi all,
Have just been handed a dilemma from my local Toyota dealer which from their POV I am out of luck, and now the recipient of a 2 very expensive and useless pieces of plastic.

Okay the background; 2 years ago I purchased a 2009 ZR, that had been religiously serviced, but to my horror and after much searching through these forums never had the world's smallest mudflaps replaced under warranty. So even though the vehicle was out of warranty, I contacted the dealer who wanted nothing to do with it.

So last week I decided to purchase all new mudflaps for the vehicle. After visiting the Toyota Parts, they ordered the new mudflaps which had different part numbers to the originals. So after shelling out $360 I took delivery of my new gold plated plastic and went home to fit them.

The front mudflaps (part #76621 RH and #76625 LH) fitted perfectly and looked like they were suppose to be from the get go.

Then the issue, fitting the rear mudflaps (part #76625 RH and #76626 LH) occurred. The flap fitted okay within the guard itself, but the issue was with the under body rear connection which is just way to long, the old one has one plastic fitted hook whereas the new one has 2 hooks. So there is no way was this was ever going to fit. Took it back to Toyota Parts and their words is your stuck with them, will make enquiries, but your stuck with them, which is just wonderful service. I mentioned I just want a solution but am not holding my breath.

Therefore am wondering if anyone can think back to when Toyota did the retrospective upgrade to these mudflaps. I believe the ones they provided me are for new 150's post 2011 and there must have been a specific part # that was used for the 2009-2011 to extend them but had the smaller rear under body configuration.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

    Cheers

    Vegie.

Here are some photos to show what I am babbling on about:

The part numbers you have provided aren't the actual ones, they go xxxxx-xxxxx I can just see it on the picture but can't make it out. Post the number up and I'll see if it even for your car.

I believe that the rear bumper is different between the 3 door (KDJ155) and the 5 door (KDJ150) being that you only have one fuel tank? I think the parts the got you are for the KDJ150. Did the people in parts use your VIN number to order the parts or just take a wild guess that the models were the same?

They are different part numbers between the 150 and the 155. They got you the wrong ones.

This is my guess without the part number ;-)

    Cheers Brad

Not sure if this helps as I have the LWB (2009 model) but the part no for the rear mudflaps I received in the swap was TO7662560210B0 for both sides. I think there must be a typo on the invoice though as the part would have to be different for left vs right side due to the bracket and shaping of the flap.

Thanks for the info Brad, the full part #'s are:

          76625-60211-CO
          76626-60211-CO

Had thought they surely must have accounted for it being a SWB, but by the looks of it maybe not.

Correction to earlier post, the part nos were different. Should have read as TO7662560210B0 and TO7662660210B0 for the rears, I just misread the invoice.

Thanks AMTS and all for the details.
Have contacted the dealer and they realised they ordered for the LWB not for the beloved SWB.
                  New ones now on order.
It was a bonus to quote the required part number to them.
                  Thanks once again.

Good result but a shame you had to pay for them at all. In fairness though, mine were replaced while the vehicle was still in the factory warranty period.

Hi Black, have a look at my photos and you will see the difference in the length of the mudflap. The original is laughable, therefore Toyota realised they made an error and then lengthened them. As for FOC, you can only try, I did and got no where, so I shelled out the $$$'s.

There's a pic in my build thread that shows what the new flaps look like once installed here :- http://www.pradopoint.com/showthread...l=1#post381388

I bought a 2nd hand 2010 GX that had short mud flaps and had stone damage to the lower body. Later when I was putting it in for a service I said I wasn't happy with length of the mud flaps as I didn't want any further damage. I also added that I wasn't claiming any repairs to the body as I had bought it with the stone peppering. To my pleasant surprise, Toyota said they'd replace the mud flaps, front and rear, FOC. I have stayed loyal to the dealer even though their services are more expensive than the smaller workshops.
