  • The washer bottle cover looks unmolested but I will have a good look tomorrow.

      • The plastic guard is definately not modified. The guard was pushed out of place slightly because it was caught up on the lower recovery point bolt. I had a look and noticed that the guard was meant to clip onto a plastic piece at the bottom of the tank. I checked and there was nothing to stop me twisting the guard around the bolt and then lining up the clip. So voila:

        • Thanks MJ, very detailed photo. Now just the question on the bolts to be answered!

I have heard back from Roadsafe that they have sent stock for testing with TJM to check compatibility with all their different Prado bar mounts. I gave them feedback on the issues being encountered by some of us, hopefully it will yield a positive result.

ETA: I just went out and did a test fit and I think my points will fit using the same bolt locations as yours. As you mentioned the bottom of that bottle cover can be unclipped so should be able to be moved out of the way. About the only holdup I can see is that my Kakadu has no 2nd bolt on the top of the bullbar bracket (the one snuggled in behind the water bottle guard). I believe that is normal for KDSS equipped vehicles but don't know how this will impact the install. Another thing I did note is that all the bolts on the bullbar support brackets on mine are 8.8, not sure if the T3 uses a stronger lower bolt.

              • Are they the Outback Ideas ones? I thought they had the same bolt spacing pattern as the Roadsafe ones yet yours are mounted to the outermost bolt hole on the bullbar bracket at the top there.

Unless of course your T13 bracket is different to mine, can't see enough of it in the pic to be sure.

Did you get it done at TJM?

                    • yeah.
they were replacing the bar because it had started to develop rust under the powder coat. so while they had it all off i figured it would be easy to put the recovery points on then.

                      • OK, I have booked mine in for Friday morning, fingers crossed! I know plenty of people have self-installed these but the KDSS seems to complicate matters and at any rate it's a fiddly job I think I'd rather leave to the professionals.

My local TJM stocks the Roadsafe points so should have some experience fitting them.

                        • OK, the recovery points should have two grade 12.9 bolts fitted to each side. Pretty much as expected since they are supplied with the recovery points. What happened to my bar is that there are two captive nuts required on that part of the bullbar mount. To make installation of the bar easier these are on a single piece of plate. The 12.9 bolt is a different pitch and wouldn't screw in. What should have happened was that the bullbar mounting plate should have been cut in half and the correct nut fitted for the recovery point so that the grade 12.9 bolt could be used. Mine will be fixed at the 500km check up. A great pick up by Fabes. Many thanks indeed. Suggest everyone checks their install.

Michael did you mean to say that the captive nut plate should have been cut in half rather than the bullbar mount plate itself? If the bullbar mounting plate was cut in half it wouldn't work, just saying.

mate i had a closer look at your photo...

it seems that in order to fit the recovery point, they have omitted a bolt to hold the bullbar bracket onto the chassis. you can see the hole just above the recovery hook in your side on photo.

have you checked with them if this compromises the bar?

the roadsafe recovery points have another set of mounting holes so all bolts can remain in place.

                              • Ages has a VX, I'm pretty sure that is normal on the driver's side due to KDSS.

With the Roadsafe points as per their instructions only 2 bolt holes need to be used on the 150.
